Concept and programme
Local and international artists and musicians are invited to enliven and transform the beat and rhythm of our time with performances, installations and audiovisual concerts. The focus is on experimentation at the interface between analogue and digital technologies.
Shiny Toys is a festival for time-based experimental culture in the Ruhr region. It combines experimental music, performance, light art and expanded cinema to create an interdisciplinary panopticon of the avant-garde art scene.
Artists
- Felix Kubin – Electronic music between disharmonious pop, industrial noise and avant-garde. Internationally known from festivals such as Sonar, Transmediale and Ars Electronica
- Tomoko Sauvage – Japanese composer from Paris, known for her performances with self-developed instruments made of water, ceramics and electronics
- Tintin Patrone & Song-Yi – Performance project at the intersection of music, choreography and robotics with an electric wheelchair as an autonomous performer
Organiser and funding
A cooperation between the Oberhausen Short Film Festival, the Theater an der Ruhr, Makroscope e.V. and mex – intermedial and experimental music projects Dortmund. Funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the "Neue Künste Ruhr" programme.
